How it works

01

Make an appointment with your doctor (or another healthcare provider, such as a genetic counselor), who will order the test and gather the necessary medical records and family information.

02

A specimen is collected at your doctor’s office and sent to PMCDx for testing. Alternatively, your doctor may request a test kit to be mailed to your home, which will include a pre-paid return label for sending the specimen back to the lab.

03

Once our lab receives your sample, we will begin processing it promptly. After the analysis is completed by our genetic experts, a detailed report will be sent directly to your doctor.

04

Your doctor will review the results with you, and together, you’ll determine the next steps for your care. Based on the findings, your provider may recommend speaking with a genetic counselor, a healthcare professional who can help you fully understand the implications of the test results.

What it means

Understanding Your Test Results

This result indicates that a genetic change was found, and it is known to cause symptoms or a specific genetic disorder.

No genetic changes were identified that explain the health condition, based on current knowledge. In this case, your provider may recommend additional testing for further insights.

A genetic change was detected, but the available scientific evidence is insufficient to determine whether it is related to a health condition. Your provider may suggest further evaluations or a reanalysis of your genetic information in the future.
